Converts a motherboard USB 3.0 header into a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type E connector for front-panel Type C or Type A ports
The ORVIX converter turns an existing USB 3.0 internal 20-pin header into a USB 3.1 header so a front-panel Type-C or Type-A port can run at full 3.1 speed. It is aimed at builders whose motherboard lacks a native USB 3.1 header but has a spare USB 3.0 header available.
The adapter draws its power directly from the motherboard header and adds no active cooling or moving parts. In normal use it runs silently and does not increase the system's thermal load or power draw in any measurable way.
The jump is worth it when a case provides a USB 3.1 front-panel connector but the board only offers USB 3.0 headers. It is not for systems that already have a native USB 3.1 header, nor for builders who need more than the two USB 3.0 lanes the header supplies.

Insert the male IDC 20 pin plug directly into an available USB 3.0 header on the motherboard; the step people miss is confirming the header supplies two USB 3.0 lanes so the adapter can deliver full 5 GBit/s bandwidth.
No routine maintenance is required; if the female Type E A-Key header or the IDC connector pins become bent or oxidised after repeated case front-panel swaps, replace the whole adapter.
The 5 GBit/s bundling ceiling of the USB 3.0 header is reached before any thermal or protocol limit on the converter itself.
