Server-grade DDR4 ECC RDIMM kit

This 128GB kit contains two 64GB DDR4 2933 ECC registered DIMMs built for the PowerEdge C4140 with SkyLake CPUs. It operates at 1.2V with CL21 latency and a 4Rx4 organisation. The modules are JEDEC and RoHS compliant and carry a limited lifetime warranty. They are designed for server and workstation workloads that require error-correcting registered memory.

Registered ECC limits and platform constraints

Registered ECC RDIMMs cannot be used in standard desktop computers and must not be mixed with unbuffered or load-reduced ECC modules. The kit runs at 2933 MT/s and is backward compatible with 2133, 2400 and 2666 MT/s bus speeds. All 288 pins follow the DDR4 RDIMM pinout, so the system must support registered memory and the corresponding memory controller configuration.

Upgrading from lower-capacity RDIMMs

The kit replaces smaller-capacity registered ECC DIMMs in the PowerEdge C4140, doubling or quadrupling memory per channel depending on the existing population. The jump is worth it when virtualisation, database or compute workloads exceed the current memory ceiling and the platform supports 64GB 4Rx4 modules. Buyers who need unbuffered memory or consumer form factors cannot use this product.

Questions about this item

Should I buy the 128GB kit as two 64GB modules or look for a different capacity?

This kit is sold only as a matched pair of two 64GB modules giving 128GB total; no other capacity is offered for this part number.

What does the 2933MHz speed rating deliver inside a PowerEdge C4140?

The modules run at DDR4 2933 (PC4-23400) with CL21 latency at 1.2V, and the C4140 (SkyLake CPU) will operate them at that rated frequency.

Will the 288-pin ECC Registered DDR4 interface work in my server?

Yes — the kit uses 288-pin DDR4 ECC Registered DIMMs, the exact form factor required by the PowerEdge C4140; it also supports backward compatibility with 2133, 2400 and 2666MHz bus speeds.
