Capacity 256GB (8 x 32GB)

  • 256GB kit extends server memory capacity
  • 8x32GB modules populate all DIMM slots
  • DDR4 2933 speed with CL21 latency
  • ECC Registered design protects data integrity
  • 2V operation reduces power consumption

System-Specific ECC Registered Kit

This OWC kit provides 256GB of DDR4 2933 ECC Registered memory across eight 32GB modules. It is built for the Cisco HX220c M5, HX240c M5, HXAF220c M5, HX-E-220M5SX and C480 ML M5 servers. The modules run at 1.2V with CL21 timing and a 2Rx4 rank configuration. Standard desktop computers cannot use this memory.

Eight-Module Population

The kit delivers a full 256GB in matched 32GB DIMMs so all channels can be populated at once. Each module is a 288-pin Registered DIMM with on-die ECC for error correction in server workloads. No heat spreaders are fitted, matching the original Cisco HXMRX32G2RTH, HXSPM32G2RTH and UCSMRX32G2RTH part numbers. The set is also backward compatible with 2133, 2400 and 2666MHz operation.

Platform Verification Required

Confirm that your server model appears in the supported list and that the BIOS is current before installation. This memory must not be mixed with unbuffered or load-reduced ECC DIMMs. Ensure the system requires Registered ECC DDR4 and has eight available 288-pin slots. Buyers needing unbuffered memory or a different capacity should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 2Rx4 registered DIMMs need firmware updates or replacement after extended server use?

The modules are JEDEC and RoHS compliant with no heat spreader; they require no firmware updates and are covered by OWC's limited lifetime warranty with free tech support.

What speed ceiling will the 2933 MHz CL21 kit hit first when all eight slots are populated under sustained load?

The kit runs at DDR4 2933 (PC4-23400) CL21 at 1.2 V; with eight 32 GB 2Rx4 registered DIMMs installed the memory controller will operate at the rated 2933 MT/s.

How much heat and power do the eight 1.2 V registered DIMMs generate when the Cisco HX240c M5 runs all day?

Each 32 GB module draws 1.2 V with no heat spreader; total kit capacity is 256 GB across eight DIMMs, so power scales with the number of populated slots.
