OWC Aura N 240 GB NVMe SSD

The OWC Aura N is a 240 GB internal solid-state drive that uses a PCI-Express 3.0 x2 interface and NVMe flash technology. It is built as a storage upgrade for select MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models released in 2013 and later.

MacBook owners needing more space

This drive suits owners of compatible 2013 or newer MacBook Air and MacBook Pro systems who want to extend the useful life of their machine. Users with other laptops, desktops, or earlier Mac models should look at alternatives designed for those platforms.

240 GB capacity with NVMe speeds

The 240 GB capacity provides room for the operating system, applications and a working media library. Sequential reads reach 1600 MB/s and writes reach 1100 MB/s, so large file transfers and boot times improve noticeably. Very large project libraries or modern game installations will eventually exceed the available space.

Questions about this item

Does this drive need a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro from 2013 or newer to install?

Yes, the OWC Aura N 240 GB is built as a direct NVMe flash storage upgrade for select 2013 and later MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, so the host laptop must be one of those machines.

Will it run on the PCI-Express 3.0 x2 slot in my older MacBook without a firmware update?

The drive uses a PCI-Express 3.0 x2 interface and is engineered for the native slot in compatible 2013 and later MacBooks, so it operates at up to 1600 MB/s read and 1100 MB/s write without extra firmware steps.

How can I confirm the SSD is delivering the rated 1600 MB/s read and 1100 MB/s write after I install it?

Open Disk Utility or a benchmark tool such as Blackmagic Disk Speed Test on macOS; sustained sequential results at or near 1600 MB/s read and 1100 MB/s write show the Aura N is performing as specified.
