Purpose-built drawing surface

Pacon 4718 is a 500-sheet ream of bright-white sulphite drawing paper sized at 18 by 24 inches. The medium-weight stock is designed for classrooms, studios and home artists who work with dry media such as pencil, charcoal or pastel. Its acid-free composition helps preserve finished pieces over time.

Weight class that defines handling

At 57 lbs the paper sits in a medium-weight range that resists buckling under repeated erasing while remaining light enough for everyday sketching. The 100 percent sulphite construction gives a consistent tooth that holds pigment without excessive dusting. This single weight figure determines whether the sheet matches the pressure and medium you prefer.

Ready to use with minimal friction

Sheets are cut flat and packed in a ream, so no trimming or conditioning is required before drawing. The main issue users report is occasional edge curling in humid environments; storing the ream flat and weighted prevents this. Recyclable fibres also mean off-cuts can go straight into paper recycling.

Questions about this item

How does the 57 lbs weight feel when you start drawing on a sheet?

The 57 lbs sulphite stock is mediumweight, so it stays flat under hand pressure and takes repeated erasing without pilling or tearing.

What does the 18 x 24 inch size mean for fitting into standard portfolios or flat files?

At 18 by 24 inches the sheets match common large-format portfolio sleeves and flat-file drawers, so they store without trimming or folding.

Will the 500-sheet ream feed cleanly through a large-format printer or copier?

The ream is cut to a consistent 18 x 24 size and the sulphite surface is smooth enough for dry-media printers, but always check your device's maximum paper weight and dimensions first.
