Internal DVD Burner for SATA Desktops

The Panasonic SW820 is a new internal optical drive that writes to DVD±R, DVD±R DL and DVD±RW media as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs. It connects through a standard SATA interface and fits a typical 5.25-inch desktop bay. This unit suits anyone who still archives data to optical discs or needs to read legacy software and media.

Check SATA Port and Bay Space Before Ordering

Verify that your motherboard has a free SATA data connector and that your power supply includes a matching SATA power lead. The chassis must provide an accessible 5.25-inch half-height bay with enough depth for the drive body. Systems limited to M.2 or U.2 storage, slimline laptops or small-form-factor cases without external bays cannot accommodate this internal unit.

Questions about this item

Does the Panasonic SW820 DVD burner include cables or mounting screws?

The drive is supplied as the bare unit only; SATA data and power cables plus mounting screws must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the SW820 or a different Panasonic model number?

The SW820 is the sole model listed; select it for a SATA internal DVD-RW drive that reads and writes all standard CD and DVD formats.
