Fully rugged 13.1" laptop

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-31 MK4 is a fully rugged laptop built to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards for extreme environments. It integrates a 13.1-inch sunlight-viewable XGA touchscreen with a 1024 x 768 resolution and includes a digitizer pen for precise input. Verizon 4G LTE connectivity provides mobile broadband access in the field. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed on the device.

Sustained field operation

A single-core Intel Core i5 processor running at 2.70GHz handles typical administrative and data-entry workloads without active cooling noise. The 8GB DDR3 800 memory configuration (4 GB x 2) supports multitasking within the limits of the architecture. The 160GB hard drive offers baseline storage for local files and the operating system. Battery life is rated up to 18 hours for extended shifts away from power sources.

Legacy fleet refresh

This unit replaces older fully rugged laptops that lack touchscreen capability or integrated 4G LTE connectivity. The jump is worth it for organisations maintaining six generations of docking compatibility across existing vehicle mounts and port replicators. Buyers who need solid-state storage speeds or multi-core processing performance for modern applications should evaluate alternative platforms. The 32/64-bit Windows Pro licence supports legacy software requirements.

Questions about this item

How much fan noise and heat should I expect from the 2.7GHz i5 when the CF-31 runs all day?

The 2.7GHz i5 is a single-core processor rated at 2.70GHz with DDR3 800 memory, so sustained workloads generate modest heat that the rugged chassis dissipates without a high-speed fan.

What must I already own to use the Verizon 4G LTE module in this CF-31?

An active Verizon data plan and a compatible nano-SIM are required; the laptop includes the certified 4G LTE radio but no carrier subscription.

Will my existing 16-year-old Toughbook docking station work with this MK4 unit?

Yes — Panasonic guarantees 16 years of consistent docking compatibility, so legacy docks that supported earlier CF-31 generations will mate with this MK4 model.
