Built for field work

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a 14-inch semi-rugged laptop certified to MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F and IP65 standards. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-5300U processor at 2.3 GHz with 16 GB of memory and a 2 TB SSD. Integrated 4G LTE Multi FirstNet, GPS, a smartcard reader and a fingerprint reader support mobile professionals in public safety, utilities and field service roles.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-voltage Core i5-5300U and Intel HD Graphics 5500 keep heat output modest during typical office and dispatch workloads. Fan noise stays low under light multitasking and web-based applications. The system draws minimal power from the included AC adapter, allowing extended operation on the internal battery during shift changes or vehicle-mounted use.

Bundled tools that change the workflow

A digitizer pen enables precise signature capture, mapping markup and form entry on the 1366 x 768 non-touch display. The smartcard reader and fingerprint sensor provide two-factor authentication without external dongles. FirstNet-ready 4G LTE and dedicated GPS deliver reliable connectivity and location data in areas where Wi-Fi is unavailable. Buyers needing a touchscreen or higher-resolution panel should note this unit is the non-touch HD configuration.

Questions about this item

How is the digitizer pen installed, and what step do people miss?

The digitizer pen works immediately when removed from its holder; the step often missed is calibrating it in Windows 10 Pro Tablet PC Settings before first use.

What maintenance will the 16 GB memory and 2 TB SSD need later?

The 16 GB memory is soldered to the maximum supported capacity and cannot be upgraded; the 2 TB SSD is user-replaceable via the access panel if capacity or speed ever needs changing.

What limit appears first during sustained load on the Core i5-5300U with Intel HD Graphics 5500?

The single-core 2.3 GHz processor reaches thermal limits before the GPU, so prolonged heavy tasks will throttle CPU clocks first.
