Rugged 14-inch laptop with LTE and GPS

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-54 is a new semi-rugged notebook built for mobile professionals who need a durable device with integrated connectivity. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-5300U processor with 8GB of memory and a 2TB SSD. The 14.0-inch HD display has a 1366 x 768 resolution and is non-touch. MIL-STD-810G and IP65 certifications confirm resistance to shock, vibration, dust and water jets. A digitizer pen and power adapter are included.

Field workers needing 4G and security features

This configuration suits users who require built-in 4G LTE, a dedicated GPS receiver, a smartcard reader and a fingerprint reader for secure authentication in the field. The DVD-ROM drive supports legacy media. Buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher resolution panel or more than 16GB of memory should look elsewhere. The single-core processor limits performance for heavy multi-threaded workloads.

Single-core i5-5300U processor

The Intel Core i5-5300U is a single-core processor with a base speed of 2.3GHz. This architecture determines the laptop's capacity for concurrent tasks and overall responsiveness. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles visual output. Wireless connectivity uses 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.1. Wired LAN supports 10/100/1000Mbps speeds. Maximum supported memory is 16GB.

Questions about this item

What wired LAN speed does the CF-54's 10/100/1000Mbps port actually deliver?

The Gigabit Ethernet port caps at 1000 Mbps, so real-world throughput tops out near 1 Gbps when the switch and cabling support it.

Which mounting holes or brackets does the 14.0" Toughbook CF-54 use for vehicle or desk docking?

The chassis follows Panasonic's standard CF-54 docking pattern; it mates with the Panasonic vehicle dock or desk port replicator that share the same bottom-connector footprint.

How is the digitizer pen paired with the CF-54, and what step do users often miss?

The pen is a passive electromagnetic digitizer stylus — no pairing or battery required; the common mistake is pressing a non-existent button expecting Bluetooth pairing.
