Panasonic WV-NS954 i-Pro PTZ Camera

The Panasonic WV-NS954 is a PTZ security camera from the i-Pro series designed for active surveillance. It suits installers who need remote directional control and optical zoom for detailed monitoring. The camera delivers a 768 x 494 resolution using a 1/4 inch sensor. It is built for day-night operation with Super Dynamic technology.

Network Limits at 100Base-TX Speed

Video streams travel over an RJ-45 port limited to 10Base-T or 100Base-TX Ethernet. The 30 frames per second maximum at 768 x 494 resolution fits within this bandwidth. MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression options help manage data rates. The 100 Mbps ceiling caps total throughput for multi-camera setups.

PTZ Mounting and Configuration

Physical installation requires a secure mount that handles pan, tilt and 30x optical zoom movement between 3.8 and 114 mm focal lengths. Wiring must reach the RJ-45 jack and power source without strain on moving parts. Common issues include incorrect IP addressing on the 10/100 network and insufficient clearance for full rotation.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 30x optical zoom or a lower zoom version for wider coverage?

This model only comes with a 30x optical zoom lens covering 3.8 to 114 mm focal length, so there is no lower zoom variant to select.

What does the 768 x 494 resolution deliver in live monitoring?

It provides a standard definition image at up to 30 IPS, suitable for general surveillance but not for high-detail identification.

Does the RJ-45 100Base-TX port limit bandwidth in a modern network?

The 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet link caps throughput at 100 Mbit/s, which is adequate for the MPEG-4 or MJPEG streams this camera produces.
