Blocks unused jack modules to protect server ports from dust and damage
The Panduit Jack Module Blockout Device is a server accessory that seals unused jack module ports in patch panels and network cabinets. It prevents dust ingress, accidental disconnection and unauthorised access to open ports. Network administrators and data-centre technicians use it to maintain port integrity and physical security across structured cabling installations.
The device has no moving parts, draws no power and generates no heat or audible noise during normal use. It simply snaps into a vacant jack opening and remains in place without active cooling or electrical consumption. This passive design means it adds zero thermal load to the rack and requires no ongoing maintenance or monitoring.
Under sustained environmental exposure the blockout device retains its mechanical retention and protective seal without degradation. First listed by the manufacturer on 15 September 2020, the accessory is built for continuous service in cabinet environments where it resists vibration, temperature cycling and handling stress. It continues to secure unused ports for the life of the cabling infrastructure.

Snap the blockout device into the unused jack module opening until it clicks securely; the step often missed is verifying the latch fully engages to prevent accidental removal.
The device requires no routine maintenance; replace it only if the latch mechanism breaks or the blockout becomes loose in the port.
The plastic latch tabs can fatigue after repeated insertions and removals, causing the blockout to no longer stay seated in the jack module.
