1U firewall appliance with six Gigabit ports

The Partaker R9 is a 19-inch rackmount network appliance built around an Intel Core i3 3220 processor and the B75 chipset. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 64 GB mSATA SSD, ready for immediate deployment. Six Intel Gigabit Ethernet controllers provide the physical interfaces for routing, VPN and firewall duties. The 1U chassis includes mounting ears, wall brackets and a 150 W power supply.

Gigabit throughput ceiling and single bypass set

Each of the six RJ-45 ports is limited to 10/100/1000 Mbps negotiated speeds, so aggregate throughput cannot exceed 1000 Mbps on any single flow. The CPU lacks AES-NI instructions, which reduces VPN encryption performance compared to newer processors. Only one hardware bypass pair is fitted, so a single inline segment can fail open without power. The platform tops out at 32 GB of DDR3 RAM across two SO-DIMM slots.

Verify rack depth and OS choice before ordering

The unit measures 430 mm wide, 270 mm deep and 50 mm high, so confirm your cabinet or shelf can accommodate that depth. Ensure your chosen firewall distribution — pfSense, OPNsense, Untangle or another FreeBSD or Linux variant — supports the i3 3220 and the Intel 82574L, 82583V or I211 NICs. A 2.5 or 3.5 inch drive bay is available for additional storage if required.

Questions about this item

Which memory and storage combination should I choose for this Partaker R9?

The unit ships with 8 GB DDR3 RAM and a 64 GB mSATA SSD; the board accepts up to 32 GB DDR3 and also has a 2.5 / 3.5 inch bay for an extra drive.

What does the 1000 Mbps throughput figure mean when the appliance is running pfSense or OPNsense?

It reflects the measured LAN-to-WAN forwarding rate through one Gigabit NIC, so real-world routing with firewall rules will stay near 1 Gbps line rate.

How do the six Intel Gigabit LAN ports and the bypass set affect my network design?

Six RJ-45 ports on Intel 82574L/82583V/I211 controllers give full 10/100/1000 Mbps connectivity, and the single hardware bypass pair keeps one link alive if the appliance loses power.
