1U rack firewall with six Intel Gigabit ports

The Partaker R9 is a 19-inch 1U appliance built around an Intel Core i5-3470 processor, 4 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB mSATA SSD. Six Intel Gigabit LAN ports, two USB ports, a VGA output and a serial console provide the connectivity needed for routing and security tasks. The unit ships with a 150 W power supply and rack-mount ears for immediate deployment.

Suited for open-source firewall deployments

The box runs pfSense, OPNsense, Untangle, RouterOS, Linux or Windows and supports AES-NI acceleration for VPN workloads. A single LAN-bypass pair preserves connectivity during power loss or software failure. Buyers who need more than six copper ports, 10 GbE interfaces or a different CPU generation should consider other form factors.

Throughput capped at 1 Gbps per port

Each of the six RJ-45 ports is limited to 10/100/1000 Mbps, so aggregate routing performance cannot exceed 1 Gbps on any single link. This ceiling determines whether the appliance matches the required WAN or LAN speed profile.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum throughput the i5-3470 can sustain when all six LAN ports are fully loaded?

The WAN-LAN forwarding speed is rated at 1000 Mbps per gigabit NIC, so total aggregate throughput under full load is limited to 1 Gbps.

How loud and hot does the 1U chassis get when the appliance runs 24/7?

A ball-bearing silent cooling fan keeps the i5-3470 stable during continuous operation; the 150 W power supply draws 100-240 V at 50/60 Hz.

Which storage drives must I already have to use the mSATA and 2.5/3.5-inch bays?

The unit includes a 128 GB mSATA SSD; the second bay accepts one 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch HDD or SSD that you supply.
