Active GPS antenna with magnetic mount, 26 dB gain, right-angle SMB plug and 15 ft RG174 cable
The PCTEL Active GPS Antenna is a magnet-mount antenna designed for vehicles or fixed installations that need reliable satellite reception. It operates at 1575.42 MHz with a built-in 26 dB amplifier powered from a 3-5 volt supply. The square black radome houses an electrically shielded LNA assembly for high out-of-band rejection. A 15' RG174 cable with a right-angle SMB plug is included for direct connection.
This antenna replaces passive GPS antennas or lower-gain active units when signal acquisition is slow or unreliable in obstructed environments. The integrated amplifier boosts the receive signal and improves acquisition time, making the jump worthwhile for fleets, asset trackers or marine electronics that struggle with multipath or weak sky view. It is not suited for installations that require a through-hole or adhesive mount instead of a magnetic base.
Under continuous operation the shielded LNA PCB maintains consistent gain while rejecting out-of-band interference from nearby transmitters. The UV-stable radome protects the electronics during prolonged exposure to sunlight and weather without degradation. The 15' RG174 lead keeps insertion loss low over the cable run, preserving the 26 dB figure at the receiver input during extended tracking sessions.

The antenna includes a 15-foot RG174 cable with a right-angle SMB plug already installed, so measure your roof-to-dash path to confirm the length is sufficient.
The magnet mount requires a ferrous metal surface; it will not adhere to aluminium, fibreglass or carbon-fibre roofs without a separate metal mounting plate.
Inspect the RG174 annually for UV cracking, kinks or water ingress at the right-angle SMB plug; replace the cable when the jacket shows brittleness or signal loss appears.
