Pentel of America, Ltd. QE515V 0.5 mm mechanical pen

Design and lead size

The Pentel QE515V is a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil with a triangular, see-through barrel that prevents it from rolling off a desk. A retractable tip protects pockets and bags when the pencil is carried. The grip area on the transparent body makes it comfortable to hold for extended writing sessions.

Suited for fine-line writing; not for broader marks

This pencil suits students and professionals who need clean, precise lines for notes, drafting or standardised forms. The capped eraser is refillable with Pentel Z2-1 refills, so corrections stay tidy. Writers who prefer a thicker stroke or a softer grip material should consider a different model.

0.5 mm lead diameter

The fixed 0.5 mm lead size determines the line width and is the key specification for deciding if this pencil matches the task. Leads of this diameter are widely available for refilling. If the work requires a different line thickness, another mechanical pencil will be needed.
