Universal Sealant Tape

This mastic seal tape provides a flexible moisture barrier for outdoor and low-voltage applications. The tacky black compound remains pliable over time and can be removed when needed. It is supplied as a 10 foot roll measuring 6.5 inches wide.

UV Resistance and Durability

Testing in a UV exposure chamber for 2000 hours showed little change in surface characteristics. The butyl rubber material stays flexible during long-term sunlight exposure. It is non-conductive and non-contaminating for safe use around electrical fittings.

Sealing Lag Screws and Connectors

The tape is designed to seal satellite antenna lag screws against moisture penetration. It also wraps low-voltage connectors and caulks drilled holes to exclude bugs and water. Builders needing a structural adhesive or a product rated for high-voltage insulation should choose a different material.

Questions about this item

How do I apply the 6.5-inch wide mastic tape around a lag screw and what step is often missed?

Clean the surface, press the tacky black butyl rubber firmly around the screw threads and mounting base, then smooth it by hand to remove air gaps; skipping the smoothing step leaves channels for moisture.

Will the PV2665 tape need replacement after long-term sun exposure?

The material survived 2000 hours of UV testing with little surface change and stays flexible for a long time, so replacement is not expected under normal outdoor use.

What is the first limitation when the tape is used continuously as a moisture seal?

The 10-foot roll length limits total coverage; once the roll is consumed you must add another to maintain the seal.
