2U Media Converter Chassis

The Perle 05059954 MCR1900-DAC is a 2U media converter chassis built for network teams who need to house multiple converter modules in a single rack space. It suits data-centre and campus deployments where copper-to-fibre links are consolidated.

Passive thermal design

The unit relies on passive cooling and the airflow of the host rack, so it adds no fan noise and draws only the power required by the installed media converters. Heat dissipation scales with the number and type of modules populated.

Replaces standalone converters

This chassis replaces individual desktop or wall-mount media converters when port density and centralised management become priorities. The jump is worth it when a rack environment already exists and technicians need a single point for fibre and copper patching.

Questions about this item

How do I install the MCR1900-DAC into a standard rack and which orientation step is most often missed?

Mount the 2U chassis using the front brackets, then secure the rear support rails so the unit cannot sag — installers often skip the rear rails.

Which components of the 05059954 will require replacement after extended operation?

The internal cooling fans and the redundant power supply modules are the only field-replaceable parts that wear out over time.

What is the first limit reached when the chassis runs fully populated under continuous load?

The shared back-plane bandwidth of the MCR1900-DAC becomes the bottleneck before any individual media converter hits its own throughput ceiling.
