Philips Hue 4-pack recessed downlights

The Philips 578674 set contains four smart 5-6 inch recessed downlights that deliver 16 million colours plus tunable white light. Each unit fits standard ceiling cut-outs for a clean retrofit installation. They work over Bluetooth for single-room control or connect to a Hue Bridge for whole-home automation. The pack targets homeowners who want colour-changing downlights without rewiring.

Upgrade from fixed-colour downlights

These lights replace single-temperature recessed fixtures and add full colour control, dimming and scheduling in one step. The jump is worth it when you want scenes that shift from warm white to vibrant hues for movies, parties or circadian routines. A Hue Bridge unlocks control of more than 10 lights and remote access while away. Without the bridge you are limited to Bluetooth range and fewer simultaneous lamps.

Suits retrofit ceilings with standard cut-outs

Ideal for renovators who need a flush, minimalist look and voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant or HomeKit. Buyers who want more storage or builders who need a second card should look elsewhere because this is a lighting kit, not a compute or expansion product. Anyone requiring hard-wired DMX or proprietary protocols will not find them here. The four-pack covers a typical room but larger projects need additional sets.

Questions about this item

What ceiling cut-out size do the 5-6 inch recessed downlights require?

The downlights are designed for standard 5 to 6 inch recessed housings, so the cut-out must match that diameter range for a flush fit.

How do I connect the 4-pack to a Hue Bridge, and what step is often missed?

Add each light in the Hue app via Bridge setup; the step often missed is updating the Bridge firmware first so all four appear correctly.

When will the LEDs in these downlights need replacement?

Philips Hue LEDs are rated for long life; replacement is typically only needed after many years of daily use when brightness noticeably fades.
