Linux AC1200 USB3.0 Adapter

The PISKEKAT USB3.0 WiFi adapter adds dual-band 802.11ac wireless to Linux desktops, laptops and Raspberry Pi 2+ boards. It supports kernels up to 6.5 and major distributions including Ubuntu 23.10 through 16.04, Debian 12 through 8, Mint 21 through 18, Kali, Raspberry Pi OS 12 through 8 and Windows 11 down to 7. Both x86_64 and ARM architectures are covered.

Driver-Free Install on Supported Kernels

On current Linux kernels the adapter works without extra drivers; plug it into a USB 3.0 port and the 5 dBi antennas rotate 360 degrees for best signal. Older kernels or minimal installs may need the vendor driver compiled manually. Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8 and 7 install automatically. VirtualBox guests pass the device through USB without issues.

AC1200 Dual-Band Throughput

The link reaches 867 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, enough for 4K streaming and online gaming. Real-world speed drops with distance, walls or heavy 2.4 GHz congestion. The two 5 dBi antennas improve range over basic adapters, but very large homes or dense apartment blocks may still see dead zones.

Questions about this item

How do I verify the adapter reaches 867Mbps on 5GHz after installation?

Run a local speed test between the device and your router while connected to the 5GHz band; a result near 867Mbps confirms the AC1200 link is active.

Does the package include the two 5dBi antennas or must they be purchased separately?

The box contains the USB 3.0 adapter and two 5dBi antennas that rotate 360 degrees; no extra antenna purchase is required.

Should I choose the 5GHz band for 4K streaming or the 2.4GHz band for wider coverage?

Use the 5GHz band for 867Mbps throughput suited to 4K streaming; switch to 2.4GHz at 300Mbps when you need longer range through walls.
