12-Line Corded VoIP Phone

The Polycom VVX 401 is a 12-line corded desktop phone built for SIP-based VoIP environments. It targets office workers and call-centre operators who need clear, multi-line handling on a single device. A 3.5-inch TFT colour LCD provides menu navigation and call information. Dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports allow network and PC passthrough.

Bundled Features and Connectivity

The handset includes a speakerphone, a USB port and an RJ-9 headset jack for flexible audio options. Multilingual menu support covers 22 languages including English, French, German, Spanish and Chinese. Acoustic Clarity technology and hearing-aid compatibility aim to improve call quality. Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af) is supported; the optional AC adapter is not included.

Deciding Specification — Line Capacity

Twelve programmable lines with 12 predefined hard keys determine whether this model fits the user's call volume. Buyers who need more simultaneous line appearances will need a different solution. The dual-port 10/100 Mbps switch handles basic network connectivity but does not offer gigabit throughput.

Questions about this item

Will the RJ-9 headset jack or handset cord need replacing after heavy daily use?

The RJ-9 jack is a standard modular connector; the coiled handset cord and any compatible RJ-9 headset can be swapped out when worn without tools.

What limits call capacity when the phone handles back-to-back calls all day?

The 12-line limit and dual-port 10/100 Mbps switch set the maximum concurrent calls and network throughput.

How much heat and fan noise does the 3.5" color display add during continuous operation?

The phone has no fan; it runs silently and draws power only through IEEE 802.3af PoE, so heat stays low even with the display on all day.
