Flame-Retardant Duct Tape 33 yd

This Polyken 268FR tape is a flame-retardant duct tape built for indoor safety applications. It uses a rubber adhesive on polyethylene coated cloth backing. The roll measures 33 yards long by 2 inches wide with an 8.5 mil thickness. It operates from 20 to 221 degrees Fahrenheit.

Indoor electricians and maintenance crews

The tape suits installers who need a flame-retardant seal that meets indoor safety requirements. It is not for buyers who need a tape rated for outdoor weather exposure. It is not for users who require a higher temperature resistance beyond 221 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not for applications demanding a different adhesive chemistry.

Fits standard tool belts and dispensers

The 2-inch width works with common hand-tear dispensers and tool pouches. The continuous 33-yard roll reduces reload frequency during long wiring or sealing jobs. The rubber adhesive bonds to steel at 60 ounces per inch for reliable holding power. The black backing blends with dark conduit and cable runs.

Questions about this item

Does the 8.5 mil thickness and rubber adhesive need a clean, dry surface before I apply it?

Yes — the rubber adhesive on the polyethylene coated cloth backing bonds best when the surface is free of dust, oil and moisture, so wipe the area first.

Can I run this 268FR tape next to standard duct tape that only handles lower heat?

The 268FR is rated to 221 °F, so it will stay secure in temperatures that would soften ordinary duct tape.

How do I confirm the flame-retardant rating is active after I wrap a joint?

Check that the black tape shows the 268FR series marking and that the wrap holds firm at the rated 221 °F limit.
