Add External CD Playback

This Pro Star USB CD player adds disc playback to 2019-2026 Acura ILX models that lack a factory CD drive. It connects directly to the vehicle's USB port for power and data. The unit is designed for drivers who still prefer physical media over streaming or digital files. Installation requires no wiring or special tools.

Sustained Playback Behaviour

The player draws power continuously from the USB port during operation. Discs require approximately two minutes to complete indexing before playback begins. Interrupting this process forces a full restart of the setup procedure with a different disc. Once indexed, the unit maintains playback through the factory audio system without additional configuration.

Plug-In Installation Notes

Mount the player vertically or horizontally on the centre console, in the glove box, or anywhere the cable reaches the USB port. The included printed instructions must be followed exactly from step one. Steering wheel and factory radio controls manage playback after setup. The only common failure is skipping the mandatory indexing wait period.

Questions about this item

Does the Pro Star CD player generate noticeable heat or noise when left running all day?

The unit is powered through the vehicle USB port and contains no moving fan, so it runs silently and stays cool during extended use.

What existing car feature is required for the Pro Star player to function?

A working USB port in the 2019-2026 Acura ILX is needed; the player draws power and communicates through that single connection.

Will the Pro Star unit work with the original steering-wheel audio buttons on my 2019-2026 Acura ILX?

Yes, track and volume commands from the factory steering-wheel controls are passed through the USB link to the CD player.
