External CD Player for Defender

This Pro Star unit adds a single-disc CD drive to 2019-2026 Land Rover Defender models that lack a factory player. It draws power and data from the vehicle's USB port so no extra wiring is needed. The device is aimed at owners who still prefer physical media over streaming or digital files.

Plug-and-play changes daily use

The bundled USB cable and printed manual let you connect the drive directly to the car's port and control playback through the factory radio or steering-wheel buttons. Mounting flexibility allows vertical or horizontal placement on the centre console, in the glove box or anywhere the cable reaches.

Simple install with one timing trap

Installation requires only plugging the cable into the USB port and following the included steps. A mandatory two-minute indexing period must finish before the first disc is recognised; interrupting it forces a full restart of the setup process with a different CD.

Questions about this item

Will the USB cable or connector need replacing after repeated insertion?

The USB cable plugs directly into the vehicle port and the unit is powered via USB, so the cable is integral to the device and not designed for user replacement.

What limits continuous playback when the CD player is used for long trips?

The unit draws power from the car's USB port, so sustained operation depends on that port maintaining sufficient current without overheating or shutting down.

Does the player generate noticeable heat or noise when running all day?

The device has no internal fan and is powered by the USB port, so it produces minimal heat and no mechanical noise beyond the CD drive motor during disc access.
