External CD player for Volvo XC60 2019-2026

The Pro Star USB CD player adds a single-disc drive to 2019 through 2026 Volvo XC60 models that lack a factory CD player. It connects directly to the vehicle's USB port with no extra wiring or tools required. The unit mounts vertically or horizontally on the centre console, in the glove box or wherever the cable reaches.

Sustained playback and indexing behaviour

After inserting a disc the player needs about two minutes to finish indexing before it is ready for reliable use. Interrupting this process means the disc must be removed and the full installation sequence repeated from the beginning. Once indexed the drive draws power from the USB port and streams audio continuously without an external power supply.

USB-A interface and CarPlay integration limits

The device relies on the car's USB-A port for both power and data, so it cannot function on vehicles without that port. Audio control is handled through the factory radio or steering-wheel buttons rather than a dedicated interface. Compatibility is limited to the specified Volvo XC60 model years and the player does not add CarPlay to cars that do not already support it.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the USB-powered CD player generate when running all day?

The Pro Star unit draws power only from the car's USB port, so heat output stays very low during continuous use.

What existing car feature must the Volvo XC60 already have for this CD player to work?

The 2019-2026 XC60 needs a factory USB port; the player plugs directly into that port with no extra wiring.

Will steering-wheel audio controls on an older Volvo still operate this add-on CD player?

Yes, the Pro Star CD player is controlled through the factory radio and steering-wheel buttons on compatible XC60 models.
