Pro Tapes Pro-Gaff Gaffer Tape 72mm x 55 yds Black

This matte cloth tape uses a synthetic rubber adhesive for strong, residue-free bonding on irregular surfaces. It is built for entertainment, production and industrial crews who need reliable hold-down and clean removal. The vinyl-coated cloth tears cleanly by hand and accepts pen or marker labels. Zero PVC content makes it suitable for environments where that material is restricted.

Waterproof abrasion-resistant backing

The waterproof backing and abrasion-resistant construction withstand demanding stage, rigging and outdoor conditions. Adhesion performance on extremely dusty, oily or silicone-coated surfaces is not guaranteed by the supplied data. Very prolonged exposure to intense heat or direct UV may affect the adhesive over time. The matte finish reduces glare but does not eliminate reflectivity under all lighting.

Upgrade from standard duct or cloth tapes

This tape replaces general-purpose duct tapes that leave sticky residue and damage paint or cable jackets on removal. The jump is worth it when clean release from equipment cases, audio boards, flooring or scenic elements is required. It also supersedes basic masking tapes that lack the tensile strength for bundling heavy cables or securing light fixtures. Buyers who need a tape rated for specific fire-retardant or plenum standards should verify those certifications separately.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 72mm width or a narrower roll for cable bundling?

The 72mm width gives broad coverage for bundling multiple cables or securing heavier loads; narrower rolls suit single wires or tight spaces.

How does the 55-yard length translate to daily stage-marking tasks?

At 55 yards you can mark dozens of stage positions, spike lighting fixtures, and tape down long cable runs before needing a fresh roll.

What does the synthetic rubber adhesive system mean for residue on equipment cases?

The synthetic rubber adhesive bonds securely to irregular surfaces yet releases cleanly without leaving sticky residue on cases or flooring.
