Professional White China W-Sprig Brush

The Purdy 380430 is a 3-inch flat sash brush filled with natural China hair bristles. Its soft stiffness and beavertail wooden handle suit fine finishing work on smooth surfaces. Designed for oil-based paints and stains, it serves woodworkers, furniture restorers and marine painters seeking a high-quality finish.

Surface and coating compatibility

Verify that the project uses oil-based paint or stain, as the natural bristles are intended for that base type. Confirm the surface is smooth wood; the soft filament is not suited to rough textures or water-based coatings. Ensure the 3-inch width and 3 1/8-inch bristle length match the detail scale of the piece.

Natural bristle construction and handling

White China hair holds a generous load of oil-based material and releases it evenly for smooth lay-off. The beavertail wood handle balances comfortably during long brushing sessions. Natural filament requires thorough cleaning with appropriate solvents after each use to maintain softness and prevent hardening.
