Adds four Fibre Channel ports with transceivers over PCIe for SAN connectivity
The QLogic QLE2464 is a PCIe host bus adapter with four SFP ports and included transceivers. It connects servers to Fibre Channel storage area networks for enterprise data transfer. The card targets IT teams building or expanding SAN infrastructure where multiple concurrent fabric links are required.
Four independent ports share the PCIe bus to maintain aggregate bandwidth during continuous storage traffic. Each port handles full line-rate Fibre Channel frames without head-of-line blocking across the other channels. The onboard processor offloads protocol work so host CPU utilisation stays predictable under heavy I/O queues.
The adapter fits a full-height PCIe slot and ships with transceivers pre-installed in the SFP cages. Fibre cables latch securely, but mismatched cable polarity is the most common cause of link failures. Driver support exists for major server operating systems; firmware should be updated before production deployment to avoid interoperability issues with certain switch fabrics.

The adapter is a passive PCIe card with no onboard fan; heat output depends on chassis airflow and SFP module power draw.
The card ships with transceivers installed; each SFP cage accepts standard short-wave or long-wave modules matching your fibre type.
The card is backward-compatible and will negotiate down to PCIe 1.1 speeds, though throughput will be limited to that generation's bandwidth.
