Razer Kraken V4 X My Melody Edition

The Razer Kraken V4 X My Melody Edition is a wired gaming headset with a distinctive pink design and plush earcups. It connects via a convertible USB-C and USB-A cable for use with PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The headset features TriForce 40 mm drivers and 7.1 surround sound for immersive audio.

Build quality and daily connectivity

Memory foam cushions combine hybrid fabric and leatherette for comfort during long sessions while providing sound isolation. The retractable HyperClear cardioid microphone tucks away when not needed and positions close to the mouth for clearer voice capture. A single detachable cable ends in both USB-C and USB-A plugs, removing the need for separate adapters across devices.

Practical limits of USB audio and 7.1

The headset draws power and audio solely through the USB connection, so it requires an available port on the host device. Virtual 7.1 surround processing is handled by Razer Synapse software on supported platforms, meaning the effect may not be available on consoles without the app. The 32 ohm impedance and 96 dB sensitivity are tuned for USB output levels rather than high-power amplifiers.

Questions about this item

What does the USB-C connection cap in practice for audio quality?

The USB-C connection delivers digital audio to the headset's built-in DAC, enabling the 7.1 surround sound processing and 40 mm TriForce drivers to reproduce frequencies up to 20 kHz without analogue interference.

What physical space does the headset need to fit over the ears?

The over-ear design uses hybrid fabric and leatherette memory foam cushions that create a close seal around the ears; the headset weighs 0.649 kg so it rests securely without excessive clamping force.

How is the 7.1 surround sound activated, and what step do people miss?

Install Razer Synapse on the connected device, sign in, then enable 7.1 surround sound in the headset tab; the step often missed is selecting the headset as the default spatial audio device in the OS sound control panel.
