8 MP 4K PoE camera for outdoor monitoring

The Reolink RLC-811A is a wired network camera that delivers 8 MP resolution at 3840 x 2160 pixels and 25 fps. It targets homeowners and small-business owners who need detailed outdoor surveillance with person and vehicle detection to reduce false alerts.

PoE installation with motorised zoom lens

Power and data travel over a single RJ45 cable, simplifying mounting on walls or ceilings. The motorised varifocal lens provides a 31° to 105° viewing angle and 5X optical zoom so the field of view can be adjusted remotely without losing image quality. Built-in spotlights and a siren activate on detection, while a micro SD slot accepts cards up to 256 GB for local recording.

5X optical zoom decides the use case

The 5X optical zoom lets you zoom in for distant detail or zoom out for wide coverage while keeping full 4K resolution. Buyers who need continuous pan or tilt movement, or who require wireless connectivity, should look elsewhere because this model is fixed-position and wired only.

Questions about this item

What resolution does the RJ45 PoE connection actually deliver?

The RJ45 PoE link carries 3840 x 2160 video at 25fps, so the wired connection caps at 4K Ultra HD without compression loss from wireless.

What mounting hardware and cable clearance does the white RLC-811A need?

The camera weighs 2 kg and uses a standard wall bracket; allow space behind the housing for the single RJ45 cable and a microSD card up to 256 GB.

How do I enable two-way talk on the RLC-811A and what step is often missed?

Connect the camera to a compatible Reolink NVR, update both to the latest firmware, then activate talk in the Reolink App or Client — the NVR interface itself does not support it.
