8MP 4K PTZ PoE camera with 16X optical zoom

This Reolink RLC-823S2 is an 8MP 4K pan-tilt-zoom network camera designed for outdoor surveillance. It delivers 360° pan and 90° tilt coverage with auto-tracking for people, vehicles and pets. Power over Ethernet provides data and power through a single cable. Two-way audio allows real-time communication from the app.

Check PoE infrastructure

The camera requires a PoE switch or injector that supplies sufficient power for the PTZ mechanism and infrared LEDs. Verify that your NVR or recorder supports 8MP resolution and the pan-tilt control protocol. Mounting height affects the 16X optical zoom effectiveness; the 260ft IR range assumes clear line of sight. Ensure the installation site can accommodate the 360° rotation without obstruction.

Replaces fixed wide-angle cameras needing manual

This unit upgrades installations where a static lens cannot cover large areas or follow moving targets. The 16X optical zoom lets you identify details at distance without digital degradation. Auto-tracking removes the need for preset tours when monitoring unpredictable movement. The jump is worth it when you need continuous 360° coverage with optical zoom and intelligent detection in a single PoE device.

Questions about this item

Does the RLC-823S2 ship with a PoE injector or power supply, or must I provide one?

The camera uses Power over Ethernet for power and data over a single cable. A PoE injector or PoE switch is not included and must be supplied separately.

How do the pan and tilt speed ranges of 1.4–281°/s and 1.4–56°/s affect tracking performance?

Adjustable speeds let the camera move slowly for precise framing or rapidly to follow fast-moving people, vehicles or pets across the full 360° pan and 90° tilt range.

What does the 260 ft infrared night-vision figure mean for real-world outdoor coverage?

The seven infrared LEDs and 3D DNR deliver clear black-and-white video up to 260 ft in total darkness, while colour night vision activates when ambient light is present.
