Directional Antenna Kit for Verizon Jetpack MiFi

This directional antenna kit is built for the Verizon Jetpack MiFi 8800L mobile hotspot. It supplies a 12 dBi Yagi antenna with mounting hardware, a 20 ft low-loss coaxial cable and the required pigtail connector. The package targets users who need stronger LTE reception at a fixed location.

Practical Limits of the Coaxial Cable

The 20 ft low-loss coaxial cable sets the maximum distance between the hotspot and the outdoor antenna. Signal attenuation increases with cable length, so the fixed 20 ft run defines the practical placement range. The kit boosts a single antenna port; a second kit is required to improve both LTE ports on the device.

Installation Experience and Common Issues

The kit includes all cables, connectors, adapters and a mounting kit so components mate with minimal signal attenuation. Installers must align the Yagi antenna toward the nearest cell tower for best gain. Misalignment or loose connector fittings are the typical causes of disappointing performance.

Questions about this item

Should I buy one kit or two for the MiFi 8800L?

One kit boosts a single antenna port. The supplier notes that two kits are required if you want to boost both LTE ports on the hotspot.

What does the 12 dBi gain actually do for the signal?

The 12 dBi Yagi focuses reception in one direction, which can pull in a weaker tower signal that the hotspot's internal antennas miss.

Will the 20 ft cable lose too much signal for the 8800L?

The kit uses low-loss coaxial cable and matched connectors to keep attenuation minimal over the 20 ft run.
