A dual-powered shotgun condenser microphone with broadcast arm, capturing 20 Hz to 20 kHz audio via super-cardioid pattern and 80 Hz high-pass filter
The Rode NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone designed for professional film, video, television and voice-over production. Its line gradient acoustic principle captures crisp, detailed sound with a native 20Hz-20kHz frequency response. Weighing 161g without a battery, it is built for extended boom operation.
Mount the microphone using the included RM5 stand mount and connect via the broadcast arm's integrated XLR cable. Power the NTG2 with either P48 phantom power or a single 1.5V AA battery, enabling use with cameras that lack phantom power. A selectable 80Hz high-pass filter reduces low-frequency rumble from air conditioning or traffic.
The super cardioid polar pattern maintains focused pickup on the subject while rejecting off-axis noise throughout extended recording periods. Dual power operation ensures uninterrupted performance whether phantom power is available or battery power is required. The included WSVM windshield and ZP1 pouch protect the capsule during sustained outdoor or studio use.

Listen for a clean signal across the 20Hz-20kHz range, engage the 80Hz high-pass filter to verify low-frequency rumble is attenuated, and check that the super-cardioid pattern rejects off-axis sound as expected.
The bundle provides the NTG-2 microphone, ZP1 pouch, RM5 mount, WSVM windshield and an H&A broadcast arm with integrated XLR cable; you must supply either a 1.5V AA battery or a P48 phantom power source.
Use P48 phantom power when your camera or recorder provides it for continuous operation; switch to a single 1.5V AA battery when the device cannot supply phantom power, such as with many DSLR video rigs.
