Prime lens for Canon EF mount

The Rokinon SP 50mm f/1.2 is a manual-focus prime designed for full-frame Canon EF cameras. It delivers a standard angle of view on full-frame sensors and works as a short telephoto on APS-C bodies. The optical formula uses eleven elements in eight groups including aspherical and high-refractive components. A nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth background rendering.

Portrait and low-light shooters

Photographers who want a fast 50mm prime for shallow depth of field and low-light work will appreciate the f/1.2 aperture and precise manual focus ring. The all-aluminium barrel feels solid in hand. Videographers needing autofocus, image stabilisation or electronic aperture control should consider alternatives, as this lens is fully mechanical.

50-megapixel stills and 8K video headroom

The lens resolves enough detail for 50-megapixel still captures and 8192 x 4320 video recording. Performance stays strong wide open at f/1.2, giving confidence for critical focus work. Diffraction and corner softness become noticeable only when stopped down far beyond typical portrait apertures.

Questions about this item

What camera mount must my body have for this 50mm f/1.2 lens to attach?

The lens uses the Canon EF mount, so your camera needs an EF or EF-S mount with electronic contacts for aperture control.

How does the standard angle of view change if I keep my APS-C Canon instead of moving to full-frame?

On an APS-C sensor the 50mm focal length acts as a short telephoto, narrowing the field of view for tighter portrait framing.

How can I confirm the lens is resolving 8K detail after mounting it?

Shoot 8192 x 4320 video on a compatible camera and review frames at pixel level; the eleven-element design should show crisp edges wide open at f/1.2.
