Transparent Silicone Weather Stripping

This transparent silicone tape is a self-adhesive weather seal supplied in a five metre roll with a thirty-five millimetre width. It is designed to close gaps around doors, windows, shower enclosures and furniture. The flexible material blocks drafts, dust, water, noise and insects while also acting as a cushioning strip to protect glass and sliding doors from impact damage.

Suitable applications and limitations

The strip suits homeowners and renters sealing standard door bottoms, window frames, sliding doors, shower screens and cabinet edges where a clear, flexible silicone seal is required. It is not intended for structural repairs, high-pressure plumbing seals, automotive engine bays or gaps exceeding the tape's thirty-five millimetre width and one millimetre thickness. Buyers needing fire-rated intumescent strips or rigid threshold seals should look at different product types.

Critical specification: adhesive activation

The acrylic adhesive on this silicone tape requires warmth to achieve full bond strength; the supplier notes that when ambient temperature is low the backing should be heated with a hairdryer during installation. If the mounting surface cannot be cleaned and warmed above roughly ten degrees Celsius, the strip may not adhere reliably over time.

Questions about this item

Does the roll include everything needed to fit it or are extra fixings required?

The roll supplies 5 m of self-adhesive silicone strip 35 mm wide; no screws, nails or separate adhesive are needed, just a clean surface and a hairdryer if the temperature is low.

Should I pick the 35 mm width or a narrower option for a typical door bottom?

The listing only offers the 35 mm width; it covers gaps up to that breadth and can be trimmed shorter, so choose it when the gap measures 35 mm or less.

What does the 5 m length mean once the tape is applied to a door or window?

5 m (16 ft) lets you seal a standard exterior door bottom plus a window frame, or several interior gaps, and the strip can be cut to exact lengths with scissors.
