Furnace air filter MERV 11

The BESTAIR PRO panel filter is built for residential furnace air cleaners that accept a nominal 16x20x5 size. It uses synthetic media in a beverage-board frame to capture airborne particles before they reach the blower and ductwork. Homeowners and HVAC technicians who need a direct replacement for this cabinet dimension will find it compatible.

MERV 11 captures 65 percent of test particles

At MERV 11 the filter stops a high share of dust, pollen and mould spores while still allowing adequate airflow for most standard furnaces. The 65 percent efficiency rating reflects performance on the ASHRAE test dust under laboratory conditions. Systems with very tight static-pressure budgets may notice a slight increase in resistance compared with lower-rated panels.

Slide-in replacement, check cabinet depth

Installation is a simple slide into the existing filter track; no tools are required. The most common issue is a cabinet that measures slightly under the nominal depth, preventing the 5-inch frame from seating fully. Verify the exact internal dimensions before ordering to avoid gaps that let unfiltered air bypass the media.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the MERV 11 version or a different rating for my furnace?

The MERV 11 rating captures finer particles than lower ratings while maintaining airflow suitable for most residential furnaces.

What does the 65 percent efficiency figure mean once the filter is installed?

It means the filter removes 65 percent of airborne particles in the tested size range as air passes through the furnace.

How does the 16x20x5 nominal size cap what furnace cabinets it fits?

The filter fits cabinets designed for a 16 by 20 by 5 inch nominal slot; actual dimensions are slightly smaller to allow a proper seal.
