Snap-On Lid for 40-Gal Square Container

This gray resin lid fits the Rubbermaid Brute 40-gallon square trash can. It snaps securely onto the container rim to contain odors and debris. The flat, low-profile design allows stable stacking during storage or transport. It is intended for janitorial and indoor maintenance use.

Flat Profile Under Continuous Use

The two-inch high lid sits flush on the container and resists warping when stacked under load. Its snap-on closure remains engaged through repeated opening and closing cycles in high-traffic areas. The rigid resin construction supports the weight of additional stacked units without deformation. NSF/ANSI certification confirms suitability for food-contact and sanitation environments.

Replaces Damaged or Missing Tops

This lid replaces a cracked, lost or ill-fitting cover on an existing Brute 40-gallon square can (model 353600). The upgrade is worth it when the original lid no longer seals, stacks safely or meets NSF/ANSI requirements. It is not for round containers, smaller capacities or users needing a hinged or vented opening.

Questions about this item

How much heat builds up inside the 40 gal Brute container when the flat snap-on lid stays on all day?

The gray resin lid is a passive cover with no ventilation openings, so it traps whatever heat the waste generates; it adds no active cooling or insulation of its own.

Which container must I already own for the FG353900 lid to fit?

It snaps onto the Rubbermaid FG353600GRAY 40 gal square Brute trash can (Grainger item 4HC09).

Will this lid work on the older round Brute cans I already have?

No — the lid is square, 26 in wide by 24 in deep, and only matches the square FG353600GRAY model.
