Rust-Oleum 251475 Wax & Tar Remover 1 qt Spray Bottle

Purpose and User

This solvent-based cleaner removes wax, tar, grease and road film from fiberglass, metal and plastic surfaces. It is intended for automotive preparation work before sanding or refinishing. The spray bottle allows targeted application with a lint-free cloth. It suits detailers and DIY restorers who need a dedicated pre-paint surface cleaner.

Capacity and Headroom

The container holds one quart of liquid remover, providing enough volume for multiple vehicle panels or a full exterior. The formula uses D-Limonene and hydrotreated light distillate to dissolve heavy contaminants. It is flammable and carries a California Proposition 65 warning for reproductive harm. The product is not suited for buyers who want a non-flammable or water-based alternative.

Interface Limits

Application requires a lint-free cloth; the spray head is not designed for high-pressure or foam delivery. The solvent base means it cannot be used on surfaces sensitive to strong petroleum distillates. There is no dilution ratio supplied, so users must test compatibility first. It does not meet the needs of shops requiring a non-VOC or odourless formulation.
