The Ruth's sister 9288A adapter connects a computer with a VGA output to an LCD TV, monitor or projector that accepts HDMI input. It supports video resolution up to 1080p and includes an audio cable so sound travels alongside the picture. The unit is a one-way converter and cannot drive a VGA monitor from an HDMI source such as a set-top box.

Requires HDMI cable and USB power

An HDMI cable between the adapter and the display is mandatory for operation. The converter draws power from a USB port on the host computer, so a spare USB socket must be available near the VGA output. No external power brick is needed, freeing a mains outlet and reducing cable clutter behind the desk or media centre.

Audio cable carries sound to the display
