USB-to-UART serial converter with 1.8 V and 3.3 V logic levels for Arduino and Android development
This USB-to-UART serial converter uses the FT232RL chip to bridge a computer and microcontroller projects. It supplies both 1.8 V and 3.3 V signal levels, making it suitable for Arduino boards, Android devices and similar development platforms. The adapter draws power directly from the USB port for simple connectivity.
The 1.8 V and 3.3 V outputs cover most modern logic families used in embedded development. It cannot drive 5 V logic directly, so designs requiring five-volt signalling will need an external level shifter. The single-channel UART handles standard asynchronous serial streams without hardware flow-control lines.

Yes, the FT232RL adapter supports both 1.8 V and 3.3 V logic levels, so it can communicate directly with your older 1.8 V microcontroller without extra level-shifting hardware.
Open a terminal program at the assigned COM port, short the TX and RX pins together, and verify that every character you type echoes back immediately.
