FTDI USB TTL serial cable with mini-DIN connector for iRobot Roomba diagnostic access
This cable provides a direct FTDI USB-to-TTL serial link with a Mini-DIN connector designed for iRobot Roomba robots. It enables a computer to communicate with the robot's serial interface for diagnostics, firmware updates or custom software development. The FTDI chipset ensures reliable driver support across common operating systems.
The fixed Mini-DIN plug fits only Roomba units that expose a matching serial port, so it cannot connect to robots using other interfaces or to general-purpose TTL headers. Users needing bare-wire leads, different pinouts or a standard DB9 connector will require a different cable assembly.

The cable uses a standard USB-A plug, so a USB-A to USB-C adapter is required for USB-C only laptops; the FTDI chip will enumerate as a virtual COM port on Windows, macOS and Linux without extra drivers.
Open a serial terminal at the Roomba's default baud rate; the FTDI activity LEDs will blink and the Roomba should respond with its firmware version string when you send the OI start command.
