Cooling heatsink with thermal grease fits DL360 Gen9 servers, part numbers 734042-001 and 735508-001
This small heatsink carries part numbers 734042-001 and 735508-001 and is made for the DL360 Gen9 server. It arrives new with thermal grease already applied. The package contains one heatsink unit. Buyers who need a larger cooler or a different mounting pattern cannot use this part.
The heatsink has no fan or active cooling of its own; it relies on the server chassis airflow to dissipate heat. Because it is a passive component it adds no noise and draws no power. System thermals will depend on the installed processors and the chassis fan configuration.
Thermal grease is pre-applied so no separate compound is required during installation. The part is shaped to fit the DL360 Gen9 motherboard layout exactly. No brackets, screws or software are supplied. Builders working on other server models must source a different heatsink.

Remove the old heatsink, clean both surfaces with isopropyl alcohol, apply the included thermal grease evenly, then mount the 734042-001 using the original retention brackets and torque screws in a cross pattern; the step often missed is cleaning off every trace of old paste before applying new grease.
The 735508-001 is a passive aluminium heatsink with no moving parts; the only maintenance is reapplying thermal grease if the server is disassembled or if temperatures rise after several years of continuous operation.
Because the 734042-001 relies on system airflow, the first limit under sustained load is the chassis fan curve — if inlet air exceeds design temperature or fans cannot spin faster, the heatsink saturates and CPU throttling begins.
