Rycote 18cm Large Hole SGM Foam Windscreen

This windscreen is a slip-on foam accessory designed to reduce wind and pop noise for shotgun microphones. It uses open-cell acoustic foam to achieve up to 20 dB attenuation while preserving high-frequency detail. The 18cm length and large central hole accommodate the specific profile of SGM-style microphones for a secure fit.

Suits outdoor recordists needing wind protection

Built for professionals capturing audio in open environments where light wind and moisture are factors. The foam resists UV degradation and handles damp conditions reliably. Not suitable for users needing a full suspension system, a blimp enclosure, or wind protection for handheld or small-diaphragm microphones.

Up to 20 dB wind attenuation

This spec defines the windscreen's core performance, balancing noise reduction against tonal transparency. The open-cell foam structure delivers this attenuation while maintaining the microphone's natural response. If your recording demands greater wind-noise rejection than 20 dB provides, this foam layer alone will not suffice.
