Industrial Chair with Wave Tube Extension

The Safco 5117 Industrial Chair is a height-adjustable task seat designed for intensive-use environments such as laboratories, production lines or shared workstations. Its 26-inch five-leg tubular steel base and 2-1/2-inch nylon glides provide a stable footprint on hard floors. Padded 2 1/2-inch seat cushion and microcellular polyurethane foam covering help reduce fatigue during long shifts.

Replaces fixed-height stools and basic task chairs

This chair replaces fixed-height stools or basic task chairs that lack the range to serve multiple users at one workstation. The pneumatic lift adjusts 8 inches from 17 to 35 inches while seated, and the patented Wave Tube Extension adds a further 10 inches of height. The jump is worth it when a single seat must accommodate standing-height and sitting-height tasks without swapping furniture.

Practical limits of pneumatic adjustment

The pneumatic cylinder covers an 8-inch seated range; the Wave Tube Extension extends total height by 10 inches but must be set before use. The backrest tilts 22 degrees and moves 3 inches in height and depth, while the seat tilts 10 degrees via paddle lever. The 26-inch textured polypropylene footrest suits the chair’s maximum height; users needing a lower foot platform at minimum seat height may find the ring too high.

Questions about this item

How much floor space does the 26" five-leg base need?

The 26" diameter base requires a clear circle of at least 26 inches on the floor; the five-leg design with 2-1/2" nylon glides distributes weight evenly for stability on hard or carpeted surfaces.

Which lever controls the pneumatic height adjustment while I am seated?

Use the paddle lever on the right side to raise or lower the seat 8" (200 mm) from 17" to 35"; pull the Wave Tube Extension ring to add the extra 10" of height.

When should the 2-1/2" seat cushion or polyurethane foam covering be replaced?

Replace the cushion or foam when the 2-1/2" padding no longer springs back or the self-skinning polyurethane shows cracks, tears, or permanent compression that affects comfort during long shifts.
