16-Department Thermal Cash Register

The SAM4s ER180U is a compact electronic cash register built for retail stores, shops and small food stands. It combines a 48-position raised-key keyboard with 16 programmable departments and a direct thermal line printer for receipt output. Up to ten clerks can operate with separate report totals for shift accountability.

Direct Thermal Printing Constraints

The integrated 2-inch thermal printer uses drop-and-print paper loading and requires heat-sensitive rolls rather than ink cartridges. Print speed and legibility depend on paper quality and ambient temperature, and the electronic journal stores up to 2,000 transaction lines before overwriting older entries.

Installation and Common Issues

Initial setup involves programming departments, PLUs, tax rates and clerk codes via the keyboard using the supplied manual. Frequent errors include misaligned paper rolls causing print gaps, incorrect tax-table configuration and forgotten clerk sign-on procedures that merge shift totals.
