High-capacity 4TB desktop SSD

The SanDisk Desk Drive SDSSDT40-4T00-NA25 is a 4TB external solid-state drive designed to stay on a desk and hold large photo, video and document libraries. It connects through a USB Type-C port and ships with both a USB Type-C cable and a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, plus an AC power adapter. The drive arrives formatted in exFAT so it works on Windows and Mac without reformatting. Read speeds reach 1000MB/s for quick file access.

Suited for single-drive desktop backup

This drive fits users who want one compact, mains-powered unit for local backups with Apple Time Machine or the included Acronis True Image software. It is not for buyers who need bus-powered portability, multiple drives in a RAID array, or Thunderbolt connectivity. The single USB 3.2 Gen 2 link also limits throughput for workflows that demand sustained bandwidth beyond 1000MB/s.

1000MB/s read speed over USB 3.2 Gen 2

The headline specification is the sequential read rate of 1000MB/s delivered through the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. That figure determines whether the drive can feed your editing timeline, backup window or transfer script fast enough. If your workflow needs higher sustained throughput or a different interface, this model will not meet the requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the SanDisk Desk Drive 4TB include the cables and power adapter needed to start using it?

Yes, the box contains a USB Type-C cable, a USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable and an AC power adapter so it works out of the box.

Is the 4TB Desk Drive the only capacity available in this series?

The series is offered up to 8TB, so you can choose a larger model if your photo, video or document library needs more space.

What does the 1000MB/s read speed mean for everyday backups on my computer?

It lets you transfer large media libraries or run Apple Time Machine and Acronis True Image backups several times faster than a typical desktop hard drive.
