2TB SATA Internal SSD

The SanDisk SSD PLUS is a 2.5 inch internal solid state drive with a 2TB capacity. It uses MLC memory and a SATA III interface to replace a mechanical hard drive in a laptop or desktop. The drive includes 64MB of DRAM cache and operates between 0 and 70 degrees Celsius.

7mm Z-Height and Shock Resistance

At 7mm thick the drive fits standard 2.5 inch bays in most laptops and desktops. With no moving parts it resists shock up to 1500G and vibration up to 4.9 gRMS at 7-800 Hz and 5 gRMS at 10-2000 Hz. The SATA connector layout matches existing cables for a direct swap.

64MB DRAM Cache for Burst Workloads

The onboard DRAM cache boosts burst write performance for typical PC workloads such as boot, shutdown and application loading. Sequential reads reach up to 545 MBps and writes up to 450 MBps. These speeds reduce wait times compared to a conventional hard drive.

Questions about this item

What real-world ceiling does the SATA III interface impose on this drive's 545 MBps read speed?

The SATA III link tops out at 6 Gbps, so the 545 MBps sequential read figure is already at the practical limit of the interface.

Will the 7.00 mm height fit my laptop's 2.5 inch bay?

Yes, the 7.00 mm z-height matches the standard 2.5 inch form factor used in most laptops and desktops.

How do I install the drive and which step do people skip?

Connect the SATA data and power cables, secure the drive with screws, then initialise and format the new volume in Disk Management — the formatting step is often missed.
