Product identity

The SatelliteSale HDMI 1.4 Dual Wall Plate is a white female-to-female coupler for in-wall cable management. It suits installers and homeowners who want a clean, permanent connection point for audio and video signals.

Deciding specification

The plate uses HDMI 1.4 circuitry rated at 10.2Gbps, limiting output to 4K resolution at 30Hz. Any source or display requiring higher bandwidth will not perform at its full capability through this plate.

Capacity and limits

The polycarbonate thermoplastic body resists heat and fade above 100 degrees and weighs only .0400. It comfortably handles standard Blu-ray players, consoles, computers and soundbars, but runs out of headroom for high-refresh 4K or 8K signals.

Questions about this item

What does 4K at 30 Hz mean for the picture on my TV?

The wall plate passes a 4K signal at up to 30 frames per second, which is suitable for movies and streaming but not for high-frame-rate gaming.

How does the HDMI 1.4 rating limit what I can send through the plate?

HDMI 1.4 caps the bandwidth at 10.2 Gbps, so 4K is limited to 30 Hz and advanced formats such as HDR or higher refresh rates are not supported.

What do I need in the wall to mount this dual plate?

A standard in-wall wiring box; the package includes the mounting bracket and screws for a flush fit.
