Heavy-Duty Shipping Tape

This Scotch 142L packing tape uses an industrial-strength, solvent-free adhesive that bonds instantly to keep boxes sealed through rough handling. It works on all box types, including 100% recycled cardboard, and resists slivering, splitting and tearing so a single strip per seam is enough. The roll measures 1.88 in. wide by 27.7 yd. long on a 1.5-in. core.

Upgrading from Standard Tape

Switch to this tape when lighter packing tapes fail on heavy or recycled boxes, or when split strips force you to re-tape seams. The stronger adhesive and tear-resistant film cut packing time because one pass secures loads up to 80 lbs without reinforcement. It is not for users who only seal light envelopes or need a thinner film for hand dispensing.

Dispenser Included for Easy Use

A built-in dispenser comes in the pack and provides precise cuts while fall-back tabs stop the tape from sticking back onto the roll. Common issues arise when the tape is applied to dusty or damp surfaces, which reduce adhesion, or when the roll is stored on its side and the edge deforms. Keep the core upright and press firmly along the full length for a reliable seal.

Questions about this item

What core diameter does the 1.88 in. roll fit on?

The roll is wound on a 1.5-in. core, which fits standard handheld dispensers.

How do I load the included dispenser so the tape doesn't fall back on the roll?

Thread the tape through the dispenser and engage the fall-back tabs; they hold the free end in place for the next cut.

When should I replace the roll instead of trying to salvage the last few yards?

Replace it when the adhesive no longer seals recycled boxes with a single strip or when splitting and tearing become frequent.
