Red-on-clear carton tape

Scotch 3779 is a polypropylene packaging tape with a hot-melt resin adhesive. The red-on-clear design makes sealed cartons easy to identify in busy dispatch areas. Supplied as a single 72 mm by 100 m roll for hand application.

Replaces standard clear tape

The coloured backing removes the need for separate marker pens or labels when colour-coding shipments by destination or priority. The jump is worth it when visual sorting speed matters more than the lower cost of unprinted tape.

Handles 22 lb/in tensile loads

At 1.9 mil thickness the tape meets ASTM D3330, D3652, D3654 and D3759 specifications. Adhesive strength of 40 oz/in performs down to 35 °F. Shelf life is 18 months; not suited for extreme heat or prolonged outdoor exposure.

Questions about this item

What width dispenser or holder fits the 72 mm roll?

The roll is 72 mm wide, so a standard three‑inch or 72 mm core dispenser will accept it.

How do I apply the tape by hand so the hot‑melt adhesive bonds properly?

Press firmly along the full length after unrolling; the adhesive activates with pressure, not heat.

When should I replace a roll that has been stored for a while?

Shelf life is 18 months from manufacture; after that the adhesive may lose its 40 oz/in strength.
