Desktop External Hard Drive 14TB

The Seagate Expansion desktop drive adds 14TB of extra storage for growing file collections. It connects through a USB 3.0 interface and is automatically recognised by Windows 10 or higher and Mac OS X 10.12 or higher. Setup only requires plugging in the included power adapter and USB cable.

Upgrade from smaller desktop drives

Replacing a lower-capacity desktop drive with this 14TB model consolidates files into a single location and frees space on internal drives. The jump is worth it when current storage is full and drag-and-drop simplicity is preferred over internal installation. USB 3.0 transfer speeds apply when connected to a USB 3.0 port.

Check system and port compatibility

Verify the computer runs Windows 10 or higher or Mac OS X 10.12 or higher before ordering. A USB 3.0 port is required to achieve USB 3.0 transfer speeds. Reformatting may be needed for Time Machine use on Mac. Rescue Data Recovery Services are not available in all countries.

Questions about this item

How much desk space do the 4.92" x 1.65" x 7.04" dimensions and 2.59 lbs weight need?

The drive measures 4.92 inches wide, 1.65 inches high and 7.04 inches deep, weighing 2.59 lbs, so allow a flat area slightly larger than that footprint with room for the 18W power adapter and cable routing.

Which cable and port must be used first to get USB 3.0 speeds during setup?

Connect the supplied 18-inch USB 3.0 cable to an available USB 3.0 port on the computer, then attach the 18W power adapter; the drive is recognised automatically on Windows 10 or higher and Mac OS X 10.12 or higher.

When should the included Rescue Data Recovery Services be considered for this 14TB drive?

Rescue Data Recovery Services can be used if the drive suffers mechanical failure, accidental deletion or corruption; the service is included for the warranty period but is not available in every country.
